Our Largest Year of Growth and Engagement
2023 saw WomenHack reach new heights of expansion and impact. With in-person events fully resumed and virtual options maintained, we hosted more events, engaged more participants, and partnered with more companies than ever before. The year demonstrated that our model scales effectively while maintaining the quality connections that define our approach.
Geographic Highlights
Sydney, Australia: Rokt began what would become an ongoing commitment, hosting their September 2023 event with 65 dynamic candidates. Their decision to host multiple events demonstrated the value companies find in sustained WomenHack participation.
European Expansion: Cities across Germany, Switzerland, UK, and beyond hosted events, with strong participation from both local companies and international tech players with European offices.
North American Growth: Established markets like Toronto, San Francisco, and New York saw continued strong engagement, while newer markets expanded our continental reach.
Company Partnerships
2023 saw deepening partnerships with companies that view WomenHack as integral to their recruiting strategy rather than a one-time experiment:
- Companies began scheduling annual or quarterly participation
- Host companies invested more in event quality and candidate experience
- Multi-company events brought together complementary employers
- Corporate sponsors supported events even when not directly recruiting
Format Innovations
Building on lessons from the pandemic years, we introduced new event elements:
- Industry-focused events: Specialized events for FinTech, HealthTech, AI, and other sectors
- Career-stage targeting: Some events focused on early-career candidates, others on experienced professionals
- Workshop components: Skills-building sessions complemented networking
- Alumni networks: Connecting past participants for ongoing community
Measuring Impact
We invested in better tracking of outcomes:
- Post-event surveys captured candidate and company satisfaction
- Follow-up tracked interview and hiring outcomes
- Longitudinal data showed career progression of past participants
- Company testimonials documented concrete hiring results
This data validated what we believed: WomenHack events consistently outperform traditional recruiting channels for connecting companies with diverse tech talent.
Community Milestones
Our community reached significant milestones:
- Over 40,000 members globally
- Presence in 130+ cities across 45+ countries
- 750+ events hosted since founding
- Thousands of documented successful hires
These numbers represent real people whose careers were advanced through WomenHack connections.
Industry Recognition
WomenHack gained increasing recognition as a leader in diversity recruiting. Media coverage expanded, company testimonials accumulated, and our approach influenced how other organizations think about inclusive hiring.
