We’re excited to have Carta onboard our upcoming WomenHack Toronto session! Tell us – what makes Carta unique?

At Carta, people get to work on a clear, ambitious mission to create more owners by building the infrastructure that powers how private companies, investors, and employees manage equity and ownership globally. That means your work impacts how wealth and opportunity are distributed, not just how software gets shipped.

Day to day, our culture is grounded in a few core identity traits, being helpful, relentless, unconventional, and kind, and in operating principles like acting as owners, playing in the open, having a bias to action, and obsessing over getting better every day. You see that in how cross-functional teams swarm on problems, how transparently we share context, and how much autonomy people have to ship, iterate, and learn.

How does Carta support people from diverse backgrounds in the workplace? We’d love to hear about any initiatives, mentorship efforts, or success stories that feel especially meaningful to your team.

We’re building an inclusive culture rooted in kindness, helpfulness, and equity. We believe every employee should have the tools and environment they need to thrive, and we expect everyone here to “own” our collective vision for inclusion and impact.

We prioritize the continuous development of our people by providing tangible resources for career advancement:

  • BetterUp Coaching & Mentorship: Every employee has access to BetterUp, providing personalized coaching and mentorship to help navigate career transitions, build leadership skills, and strengthen well-being.
  • Professional Development Policy: We maintain a robust Professional Development Policy designed to empower you to take ownership of your growth through continued learning, certifications, and skill-building opportunities.

To ensure a supportive daily experience, our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including Black at Carta, Women at Carta, Pan-Asian at Carta, Neurodivergent at Carta, Pride at Carta, and LatinX at Carta, offer a space for peer mentorship and internal leadership opportunities. We also host regular career and lifestyle fireside chats and panels to foster a culture of ongoing learning and internal advocacy.

We build equity directly into our operational systems to ensure a fair experience from day one. Our “First and Best” Offer Philosophy removes negotiation from our offers, in doing so we eliminate biases that often disadvantage underrepresented groups, ensuring trust and compensation parity from the start.

What’s something new or exciting happening at your company that candidates should know about?

We are excited to extend our Canadian footprint with the opening of our Toronto office in early Q2! Additionally, Carta is evolving from point solutions into what we describe as the first network ERP for private capital. A connected platform that brings together fund management, equity management, data, and education to allow founders and investors to operate on a single system of record. Today, that platform already supports millions of equity owners, more than 50,000 companies, and billions of dollars in assets on the platform, creating incredibly rich and meaningful problems to solve at scale.

What an exciting time at Carta, indeed! Finally, let us know what kind of talent you are hoping to connect with at the session?

We’re excited to meet people who are energized by complex, ambiguous problems in private markets, and who see themselves in our identity traits: helpful, relentless, unconventional, and kind. We look for owners and problem-solvers who are comfortable with transparency, eager to dive into the details of their craft, and motivated by building products and experiences that meaningfully expand access to ownership.

Proud to have Carta sponsoring WomenHack Toronto – join their mission to democratize ownership. Check open roles and culture at carta.com/careers.
