PolicyMe Hosts WomenHack Toronto: Lake Views, Culture & Behind the Scenes
Published by WomenHack TeamMarch 3, 2026
Next week, we’re excited to return to Toronto and the GTA, hosted by PolicyMe in their stunning new office with unbeatable lake views. This space is perfect for sparking conversations and connections among women in tech. We sat down with the PolicyMe team to hear about their culture, careers, and why they are committed to this event. Here’s what they shared:
Meet the PolicyMe team at WomenHack Toronto on March 12!
Thanks for hosting us at your new offices despite it being a busy and exciting time! Why did you decide to welcome the WomenHack community Toronto in your new offices?
We try to be thoughtful about how we support greater representation and opportunity in tech, not just inside our own walls but in the broader community. Partnering with WomenHack was a natural extension of that.
We know that women are underrepresented in tech and in leadership, and we want to use the resources we have to help change that. Hosting this event lets us create low-barrier, in-person opportunities for women to connect with hiring teams and decision-makers, while showcasing that PolicyMe is a welcoming workplace where diverse perspectives are valued.
Ultimately, we got involved because we believe good workplaces show up, share space, and help create opportunities for others in the ecosystem.
How does your workspace reflect your company culture or values? And more importantly, what do you hope visiting guests experience or remember most about being in your spaces?
We are a remote-first company, so it’s less about the physical space and more about how we can create connection opportunities for our team. At our WomenHack event, we hope guests get the chance to meet some of our awesome humans, feel the energy of how we work together, and walk away with a deeper understanding of who we are.
What makes PolicyMe stand out as a place to grow your career?
At PolicyMe, your career grows at the pace of your impact, not your title or tenure. We’re a remote-first, choice‑first company: people work from wherever in Canada they do their best thinking and delivery. What we care about is craft, ownership, and being reliable, from wherever we are.
Day to day, you’re surrounded by curious, humble, high‑performing humans who ask hard questions, leave ego at the door, and genuinely enjoy solving tough problems together. You’ll ship meaningful work quickly, get clear feedback, and see how your decisions move the business forward.
If you want a place where you can do the best work of your career, faster than most companies would ever let you, PolicyMe is built for that.
How does PolicyMe support people from diverse backgrounds? What initiatives stand out?
We intentionally build teams where different backgrounds and perspectives shape how we work, not just check diversity boxes.
Here’s how that looks:
We hire for skills, potential, and values, not “Canadian experience” or school pedigree.
New teammates get structured onboarding, a PMPal (onboarding buddy), and clear 30/60/90-day plans to succeed from day one.
We host women-in-tech mentorship sessions for International Women’s Day. PolicyMe women across all areas offer 1:1 guidance for women entering tech, startups, or new career paths.
Our feedback, career paths, reviews, and pay practices emphasize consistency and fairness, recognizing impact and how people show up.
The goal is a place where you can be yourself, grow quickly, and feel supported.
What’s the latest at PolicyMe – anything new and exciting we should know about?
This year is a really exciting one for PolicyMe, as we’re growing fast and finding new ways to make insurance simpler for our customers. That includes launching new products and using data and tech in smarter ways so the experience feels less confusing and more human.
We’re also focused on scaling what works and rethinking what doesn’t. Joining now means helping define how Canadians buy and manage multiple insurance products in one simple, trusted experience, not just maintaining someone else’s roadmap. You’re joining a team that is actively building, making decisions quickly, and iterating based on what we learn.
We’ve been named one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, and this is just the beginning. Join us for this next chapter: helping bring new products and partners to market, contributing to our growth, and shaping how we support our customers as we scale.
Who are you hoping to meet at WomenHack Toronto?
We’re especially interested in meeting candidates in Product Management and Product Design, people who are excited about building simple, thoughtful experiences in a complex space like insurance.
We’re also hiring across Software Engineering, Sales, Growth, and a whole range of other roles. Ideally, you’ve worked in tech, and it’s a bonus if you have insurance knowledge. What matters most is that you’re curious, you care about doing right by our customers, and you’re energized by high‑ownership work in a fast‑growing environment.
