Looking Back: Our First Year Connecting Women in Tech with Top Employers

As 2017 draws to a close, we are reflecting on an incredible first year. What started as a single event at CBS Interactive in San Francisco has grown into something far bigger than we imagined.

By the Numbers

In just ten months since our February launch:

  • Hundreds of women technologists have attended WomenHack events
  • Dozens of employers have participated in our reverse-recruiting format
  • Multiple cities now host regular WomenHack events
  • Countless connections made, interviews conducted, offers extended

What We Learned

Our first year taught us important lessons:

The talent is there. Every event proves that talented women technologists exist in every market. The pipeline problem is a myth perpetuated by companies unwilling to look beyond traditional channels.

Format matters. The reverse-recruiting model creates a fundamentally different dynamic. When employers pitch to candidates, power shifts. Quality conversations happen. Mutual respect develops.

Community builds momentum. WomenHack is more than events. It is a community of women technologists supporting each other, sharing opportunities, and holding employers accountable.

Thank You

To every candidate who trusted us with their career journey—thank you. To every employer who took a chance on a new approach—thank you. To everyone who spread the word, volunteered their time, or simply showed up—thank you.

What Comes Next

2018 will be bigger. More cities. More events. More impact. We are just getting started.

The tech industry needs to change. WomenHack is here to accelerate that change. Join us.
