Not so long ago, in a galaxy not so far away, filmmaker George Lucas founded a software company to entertain audiences with something other than movies. Lucasfilm Entertainment (which does business as LucasArts) produces games for computers and home video game consoles. Much of that source material is, of course, the “Star Wars” films created by Lucas. LucasArts has more “Star Wars” games than you can shake a lightsaber at and it also produces games based on Lucasfilm’s successful trilogy of “Indiana Jones” films, as well as other titles such as the popular and acclaimed Monkey Island series. LucasArts’ products are distributed in about 60 countries worldwide through its own distribution efforts and those of partners.

I loved working at LucasArts – I was an executive assistant to the lead of the Indiana Jones video game. Great people, supportive coworkers and fun place. Cried my eyes out when they laid most of us off. I was one of three women working in the department -and I always felt welcome.

I’m not aware of the pay discrepancies between male and female workers, but I felt at the time that LucasArts pay scale was fair, and they offered a great 401K matching plan.
