I worked at BNY during the 1980’s when they were doing multiple acquisitions. It was an exciting time. I left to go to a manufacturer, due to the inability for me to grow within BNY after 5 years. However, the management and mentoring was the best environment. It provided me the knowledge that allowed me to be successful in my career. Thank you BNY.

Not as diverse as we would like, quite middle class white male dominated, unless you’re in marketing or a PA. Having said that the culture is very friendly and casual. Equality exists in that sense and management can be supportive within their means. However, the organisation lacks structure and is very process driven, which causes many frustrations

After working for BNY in a retail branch on Long Island for 20 years, I knew it was time to leave. Schedules became inflexible and work locations became an issue. Employer philosophies changed. Banking was no longer about problem solving; it was all about sales. I had no problem with sales, but you also need employees that can solve problems in the branch as well as in the different departments. Technology is great when it works. It was also supposed to get rid of the paper, but you were doing double the work. Paperwork and the computer. I left and never looked back.

When I was laid off, most of us going out the door at the same time had gray hair.
