Why Diversity Events Matter
According to Star Tribune coverage, studies estimate that women make up only a quarter of employees and eleven percent of executives in the IT industry. Almost half of the women who go into technology eventually leave the field—more than double the percentage of men who depart.
The turnover of women and minorities, according to a 2017 study on “tech leavers,” costs Silicon Valley more than $16 billion each year.
A Model for Corporate Engagement
Intertech approach demonstrates how companies can actively contribute to building a more diverse tech workforce. By hosting events in their own offices, employers create welcoming environments while gaining direct access to exceptional talent.
Top area employers joined IT consulting and training company Intertech for a high-powered evening designed to connect leading women technology professionals with companies committed to inclusive hiring.
Building a More Inclusive Tech Community
WomenHack continues to partner with forward-thinking companies like Intertech to bring diversity recruiting events to cities worldwide. These partnerships demonstrate that building diverse teams requires intentional action from employers willing to invest in inclusive recruiting practices.
