Hosting WomenHack Sydney: Kablamo’s People-First Approach to Hiring and Impact

There aren’t enough hours in the day to solve the world’s hardest problems. And yet Kablamo has swung open your doors, carved out time, and invited the WomenHack community in thank you!

Tell us, what inspired you to host to the WomenHack community in Sydney?

At Kablamo, we’ve always believed that the best technology is built by teams that reflect the full diversity of the world they’re building for. Opening our doors is simply an extension of that belief in action.

What makes your space unique and how does it reflect Kablamo’s culture & values?

Our workspace is designed around the same principles that guide our work: collaboration without hierarchy, creativity with purpose. Our open workspace dissolves the boundaries that get in the way of real collaboration, creating an environment where ideas flow freely and the best thinking happens together because we believe great things are built by people who genuinely want to think together.

What we hope guests take away from the event is the feeling that they belong in a room like this. That technical ambition and creative curiosity are welcome here, regardless of where you’re starting from and if someone leaves feeling more energised about what’s possible in their career in tech, that’s exactly what we’re here for.

This creates a culture where junior developers work directly on enterprise-scale challenges, where asking “why” and “what if” are part of the daily rhythm, and where your growth is accelerated by tackling problems that genuinely matter.

How does your company support people from diverse backgrounds in the workplace?

Diversity isn’t just a value at Kablamo, it’s a business imperative. We believe the best teams are built from the broadest range of perspectives, experiences, and expertise, and this belief drives everything from our hiring practices to our project approaches.

What’s something new or exciting happening at your company that candidates should know about?

We’re at an inflection point in how businesses approach AI transformation. While many companies are still figuring out how to “use” AI, Kablamo is helping organisations become companies that are fundamentally of AI, reimagining their core operations, decision-making processes, and customer experiences.

Our recent work spans everything from real-time bushfire intelligence systems to archive platforms that make decades of content instantly searchable. What’s exciting is that each project pushes the boundaries of what’s possible when you combine deep technical expertise with a genuine understanding of human needs.

For candidates, this means joining a company where your work directly shapes how entire industries operate. Whether it’s emergency services, broadcasting, or accessibility technology, you’re not just building software; you’re creating systems that genuinely change lives.

Who are you hoping to connect with during the evening?

We’re looking for embedded explorers, specialists who combine technical excellence with natural curiosity and genuine care for the communities their work serves.

Specifically, we hire:

  • Cloud architects and engineers experienced with AWS and GCP who want to work on enterprise-scale transformations
  • AI/ML specialists who understand how to build systems that are truly of AI, not just implementing existing models
  • Human-centred designers passionate about creating technology that genuinely serves diverse user needs
  • Project and Product Managers with technology or AI project experience
  • Data engineers excited about working with everything from petabyte-scale media archives to real-time geospatial intelligence
  • Full-stack developers who want to ship technology that works in the most demanding environments

Most importantly, we want people who embody our “Make with Heart and Mind” philosophy, builders who ship real things for real people, with genuine care and sharpness of thinking at every layer.
