The culture in the analytics department of this company was incredibly messed up. If they didn’t like you, they would fire you without giving you any warning or opportunity to find another team in the company that might be a better fit. People who were planning to leave the company were never allowed to tell anyone else in the team and essentially were erased from history. In addition, the culture was that of “we hate change and never want to improve the way we do work, instead let’s continue our really tedious, manual and error-prone ways of doing things.” Morale was really low and there has been a mass exodus of people from the department in the year after I left. Zillow is your typical tech company, nothing special or cutting edge about it except for its messed up culture and poor treatment of soon-to-be former employees.

Zillow is already one of the best tech companies you can work for, and they are always striving to be even better. They treat their employees like responsible adults (discretionary time off, rare after hours work, etc). Zillow is also great because it allows you to grow your career the way that you want to; you aren’t forced to take a management role to progress.

Personally I have left the field of tech. Zillow was the last tech company I worked for and if my career path and goals continued to align with tech it is one of the few tech companies I would have continued with. There were some woman managers; this was not equally balanced but certianly better than other companies I had worked for in the past. There was good support for people with families and starting families, both men and women alike. Pay equality between men and women was not transparent but maybe this has improved since I left.

Great place to work if you’re OK with trade offs in pay and career advancement. I’ve been here for nine years and although I could leave and make way more somewhere else, I like the work/life balance and see plenty of career minded women excelling here.

I worked at Zillow in a contract role and would welcome any opportunity to be a part of the company again, especially in a non-contract role!

Zillow has made a great deal of progression throughout my time working there. They have improved parental leave policy, and made great strides in training and empowering employees to advance in their career. Zillow has amazing benefits and culture and continues to improve upon them.

ZG has grown a lot – as part of its growth they are focusing on equality in pay, ways to grow careers, training for managers, and continuing huge support of their employees. They have room to grow, but they are looking at the right things to make sure they are a open and inclusive place to work. No place is perfect, and some orgs at ZG are better than others. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a job. This is by far the best place I have worked, and I feel supported by my manager and have received great training as I transition to a manger myself.

There are no women on the board and few on the executive team. This is a typical tech company where inappropriate behavior is tolerated and lack of management training is obvious. The company doesn’t like to hire older people (“not a culture fit”) and is quick to fire.

There are a lot of woman in upper management, I am a woman manager myself. Its a fun work environment with great work life balance. I love my team and work with excellent driven people. If you’re not self driven this might not be the place for you. The benefits are phenomenal and free food drinks and treadmill desks make me keep showing up.
