Review of Field Position
Pros
I get to utilize my professional talents in an atmosphere that challenges me intellectually. I leave work feeling fulfilled; like I made a real impact to help my customers and was appreciated by the company for my contribution.
The people who work here are incredibly intelligent, humble, and work well together. The modern, innovative company model is supported by a “yes” mindset from management and a willingness to try new things to support our clientele.
Everyone on My team is very supportive, from my direct Supervisor to co-workers.
There is an amazing culture of open communication within my team. Everyone strives to do the best work possible and conducts themselves in a professional manner.

Cons
The work load can be heavy, time and effort put into my day to day is not easy, but the supportive culture, my ability to make my own schedule, and great training make it worth while.

This review is aimed strictly at the technology/product side of TrueCar.

There are lots of great people that work at TrueCar, they do a great job of recruiting top talent by offering above market salaries. There’s plenty of snacks, decent benefits, etc. I’ve made some pretty incredibly friends while working there.

That being said – if you are woman – avoid this place like the PLAGUE. Highly political, favoritism runs rampant, as does sexism and the trading sexual favors. When attempting to engage the current CTO on an important issue, he responded by telling me that I should go make-out with one of the developers…And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Oh and HR is aware of all of these
shenanigans, and yet it has been allowed to continue for years. Needless to say – there was no way I was going to stay and work under that kind of leadership…

On the technical side of things – they have an enormous amount of technical debt, an outdated stack, etc. etc.

It’s not worth the money. If you’re talented – you could easily go somewhere else and thrive 🙂
