Tesla Motors intends to spark the public’s passion and eco-conscience for electric vehicles. Founded in 2003, the company designs, manufactures, and markets high-performance electric cars and powertrain components. Tesla stylish Roadster is its flagship model, which the company continues to upgrade. The Roadster’s operating specs include zero to 60 in less than four seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. The fuel-efficient, fully electric vehicle recharges its lithium-ion batteries from an outlet, and, depending on a driver’s speed, is capable of 245 miles per charge. Roadsters are based on Lotus’ Elise model; their UK assembly is shifting to a California facility. In mid-2010 Tesla became a publicly-held company.

I was only with Tesla six months on assignment. During my time there, Tesla was still a major start up with only 300 employees at the most with only one location in Palo Alto. My current manager tried to get me on full time but was told there was no budget for it. I was the only person in that department besides my manager. My pay was comparable but I was paid through the agency and not Tesla. Working in Payroll, I felt the pay for individual job duties was fair across the board.
The culture was fun, smart group of employees and seemed to work as one big team.
I was not include in some events because I was only a contractor and my direct manager seemed to accommodate a life/work balance for family.

Worst company to work for. Communication is horrible. Everything is done last minute. But they are saving the world. Some people are nice but many are condescending and rude. Work life balance does not exist for most. Some groups are lucky but that’s if you’re lucky. Tesla culture is to understaff and overwork.
