I was employed at SolarCity for nearly five years. During that time, I had an extremely abusive and unsupportive manager. He would regularly call me to harass me although, by all measures, I was doing an outstanding job in my position. I was also paid less than my male peers the entire time I was employed by the company even though I had a better title and significantly more responsibility than many of them. There’s a reason there were no women on the executive team. The company doesn’t support women’s careers.

In the beginning of my electrician career I was honored to be with the young company SolarCity. Benefits were great, and when they expanded; I was reassigned to a new location closer to home. Later I was coerced to quit without unemployment, because of “unprofessional conduct” between me and coworkers. The new location was managed by someone other than the original founders, and I think they were ironing out the kinks in the ranks?

    Supportive Culture

When it was SolarCity and when I started working there, I liked it. I did not dread going to work. The team I was assigned to, we worked well together and we supported one another. The culture was fun. It’s too bad it’s now Tesla. It’s a completely different culture and not in a good way.

Worked at solar city for less than a year. It was terrible, constant micro management, no room for advancement, pay is minimal, would be a decent first job but not something for an adult.

    Supportive Culture

Terrible bro culture with no women on the executive team. However, the two main culprits responsible for making it a terrible culture for women have both been forced out, the CRO and COO. It may have improved since then.
