I did not enjoy my time at Omnicell. I was excited when I first started as it was a completely new team and they paid much better than my previous company for similar work. I looked forward to new challenges and seeing how the role would develop. I had a female boss but it quickly became apparent that she was not supported and her ideas were constantly shot down and she was not able to make changes. She soon left the position and the team she created was eliminated. I was fortunate enough at the time to be asked to stay on. I was transferred to a new team with a male supervisor that was inexperienced. He was an individual contributor on that team that got thrown into the management role because the supervisor left and he had been on the team the longest. While he was a nice person outside of work, it was clear that he was not respected as a leader and did not have the skills and characteristics of a strong leader. He was easily manipulated, micromanaging, and did not make his team feel valued. He did not back his employees up or consider how changes might affect the team. People were not recognized for their hard work and promotions were rarely given. Ideas were regularly shot down and when people asked for new challenges they were not given opportunities. After having a professional conversation with my manager about trying to adjust our styles to better work together and my feelings of being micromanaged he began treating me differently. He began criticizing me in front of others, asked me to copy him on all of my outgoing correspondences, looking up what time I badged in. He had other people look at my social media pages and would bring up things I did on my days off (scheduled vacation) and chastise me about missing work to do those things. He even called me into his office one day to tell me that he went around and asked other people on the team if they thought he micromanaged and that they said “no,” so I was the only one that thought that. I went to HR to and put in my two weeks and discussed what had been going on with my manager. The HR person talked me into staying and suggested trying to move to a new team or at least staying until I found something new. The next day my boss called me in and said he thought there must be some miscommunication happening and that every thing was good. 4 months later I was laid off and told that my role had been eliminated and was no longer needed.

The environment was pretty stale as well. People were nice but clearly not interested in making genuine connections with each other. For the first 6 months of my job I ate lunch alone until a new hire came on board that I was able to befriend. It is the only company that I have ever worked for where I did not connect with coworkers and develop a lasting outside of work friendship. There is a lack of diversity and resistance to change. Many people that work there are lifers. I think they stay because while the environment isn’t that great it’s stable and the pay is competitive. They also had good benefits.

I believe in the product that they sell and the companies overall mission. But the internal atmosphere was not for me.

I worked at Omnicell for several years. In the time that I work there I had four different bosses. Received actually a few awards for all my hard work and dedication. The last boss that I had ended up wanting to get his buddy that had no experience in the position that I held . He found a way of getting me laid off even though I dedicated a lot of hard work and time to that company I was very upset. He humiliated me and embarrassed me . They don’t care about the dedication and all the hard work whatever management says goes . Hard-working dedication doesn’t matter .

Very much run a group of men with token women on the board and in senior leadership. This is so much the case that when they rang the bell for the anniversary of their IPO, they felt the need to bring their wives to even the ratio. Theat pretty much says it all.

Talented women here feel the shroud of male intimidation on a daily basis. Even the very few women in executive positions will outright say they ‘have no power to make changes’. Sales and Marketing is dominated by white males who are arrogant and clearly consider women a corporate obligation. Men are credited with making ‘the big deals’ and if a women is involved, it’s to cater to the female customers involved in decision making. (think female pharmacists, nurses, healthcare executives of which there are plenty) . The VP of Marketing exhibits a visible tic when women challenge him in meetings. There is a huge imbalance of stress women carry compared to men and it is glaringly apparent as one remains with the company over time.
In a recent layoff, five people in Marketing were let go –all talented women, all middle aged. Please heed this advice–look elsewhere, there is better out there. Don’t let the facade fool you.

I joined this company under the tudilage of women leadership as there were many in the company at that time. I thought that this would be the norm – as it is the new century. In my case and that of others in the team around me women were often talked down to, work taken and used without credit given, salaries were completely unequal to counterparts (with men making more for the same title) and in most cases less work. I knew this because I managed the budget for a large team and I became to truly understand what people were paid. Pretty soon those women leaders were gone and the original team remained. While you were not told to your face you didn’t matter pretty soon a large group of women were silenced. And all that was left was the shadow. I know there are many strong women, very smart etc and the question remains why go here when there are other choices? Stick it out to find a place that will truly value your work and not play favorites or pit women against each other.
