Not much to say. I’m blessed that Microsoft offers so many great benefits to woman than other tech companies.
Career wise, when outside of tech, it’s hard to climb the ladder and my voice wouldn’t be heard, but that’s every company, not just MSFT.

I was a full-time engineer at Microsoft and it was hell being a woman there. I should honestly sue this company for sexual harassment. HR was useless. Eventually I just quit, good riddance.

I have worked at Microsoft twice in FTE roles: first time nearly for a decade during Bill Gates times and loved it. It was a technology driven company with great benefits but still (as it is well-known) some equal pay has been a problem at Microsoft.
My second time was at Satya’s Microsoft. It felt like an entirely different company. The new culture is very different now and not as women friendly anymore. Satya’s inappropriate comments at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing event in 2014, expressing his believe of woman’s place in tech environment, have been translating into Microsoft culture of today.

I worked at Microsoft for about 4 years, from 2007-2011. In general I found it to be a good place to work, and particularly a good place to learn as a new engineer (I was right out of college at the time). The pace of development can be a little slow on some projects (no surprises there) but there is a huge wellspring of experience to tap into and learn from. I think the strong foundation I developed working at Microsoft has served me very well in later roles.
Speaking specifically to being a female engineer at the company – they have a very in-depth and largely transparent review and compensation system, which I felt was effective in combating gender pay gap issues. I felt that culturally they took diversity and creating a respectful workplace culture seriously.
I will note that Microsoft is more like a federation of 200 different companies, rather than one monoculture, so people have very different experiences based on where they end up.
