Largely men in at Director and above level. Bit of a boys club feel at that level – lots of “bros” talking about beer and sports, which feels non inclusive for women. The pay is all over the place – some men make the same or more than their female bosses… this year in particular, new hires, particularly men, are making way more than their counterparts or even managers.

I’m not sure if my pay was equal, but I felt like I was well compensated at the time.
The group I was in was definitely an “Old Boys Club”, as there were no women managers. One time a woman become a manager in the group, but she left after only a couple of months, since she had no leverage in any decisions the managers made. She was a very confident and outspoken woman, so if she couldn’t get through to the men, no one could.
For family, the hours were flexible and sometimes workers would bring sick kids to work. No one really complained, but I know one woman who had her kid in physical therapy several days a week, and she was told she couldn’t be gone so much.

Intuit is a rare bird in Silicon Valley. One look at their senior leadership and you realize women are highly valued and respected. The only reason there are few women leaders in technology is between 1) women being recruited away to other companies for advancement, and 2) we just need more women engineers! For several years the CIO was Ginny Lee.

If you are a woman engineer, you can write your own ticket at Intuit – but just like the guys, you must help drive strategic outcomes AND fit within the cultural norms.

Intuit has a blind eye to compensation – you are paid what you are worth. If you feel like you the company got you on the cheap, go to your manager and discuss it. HR will pull a complete job and geo report for your job classification. You will have the data and can discuss what are the best corrective actions.

The culture is a blend of Silicon Valley Blue Bloods and hipster/millennial wannabes. You will not be launching bleeding edge technology, but you will have access to it to help build out the right solutions for our customers.

The humans are incredible. Its unlikely you will meet so many high-caliber humans on any one campus in your career. It doesn’t matter which location you work for.

Sure, Intuit has things to work on, but so does every multi-billiion dollar company.

Intuit is very male biased and traditional. If you aren’t a guy with an MBA, then good luck getting a senior leadership role. I was up for a promotion and then got pregnant. That was the end of advancement. When I had my child I was reorganized twice and they lost all my boxes in moves.

My time at Intuit (2002-2003) was a great experience. I worked on the QuickBooks engineering team as a senior development manager. Can’t say enough good stuff about the culture –
supportive and empowering to me as woman manager. I only left because I got an opportunity to join a friend at a startup

I worked as an intern at Intuit’s Reno office so I don’t have much insight as to what it’s like to work for the company as a benefited employee, or in one of their larger offices.

That being said, my managers consistently checked in with me to ensure I was getting the most out of my internship, and my male coworkers were always very nice and respectful towards me. I was regularly included in lunches and group activities.

As far as I could tell I received equal pay which was quite generous for an intern. My overall experience at Intuit was extremely professional and I would recommend this company for female engineers.

I worked in the Utah office. Felt that they did accommodate the needs of women well. Being a nursing mother at the time, I never actually used the mother’s room (great that they had it). The reason being, I had my own office with door. It allowed me the flexibility to work while pumping. Very pleased working there. Do not recall working excessively. Flexibility was allowed on length of maternity leave from my limited view.

Excellent company, culture, pay and benefits. Yes, you will see men promoted that leave you scratching your head so *ask* for the promotion. You will be respected more. Most of PD is a male dominated org but they try hard with inclusion for which I’m thankful. You cannot hire women that don’t have the skills. WE NEED MORE WOMEN ENGINEERS. Re work/life balance, it varies from group to group but I work at least 60-80 hours a week. If you’re looking for balance don’t work on a “start up” project. It’s a startup culture.

Culture: “It’s the people” is a typical answer that will come up when you ask people why they love working at Intuit. People here care so much about you as a person AND your family. I personally know many women who take extended maternity leaves and rejoin their teams or even get promoted upon returning to Intuit. The fact that I work closely with at least 6 people who have extremely young children shows that there’s definitely some good work life balance for them here. The average age skews to around mid thirty.

Pay and Career: Out of my 4 years here, I’ve had 3 years of teams where there are more women than men in our engineering team. Unfortunately, they do have a problem of females in senior technical roles though. Personally, I’ve also felt sufficiently compensated when speaking to my male coworkers about their compensation.

There are definitely pockets of the organization that need improvement, but senior leaders are constantly having open and candid conversations with women and follow up with actionable plans to improve. It’s not perfect here, but you do know that they’re headed in a great direction.
