HSBC would be a real alphabet soup if the company’s name reflected its geographic diversity. One of the world’s largest banking groups by assets, HSBC Holdings owns subsidiaries throughout Europe, Hong Kong and the rest of the Asia/Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa, and the Americas. All told, the company has some 7,500 locations in more than 80 countries. Its activities include consumer and commercial banking, credit cards, private banking, investment banking, and leasing. Its North American operations comprise HSBC USA, HSBC Bank Canada, HSBC Bank Bermuda, and Grupo Financiero HSBC in Mexico.

HSBC used to be a great place to work. Lately they do not care about the employees, we are all numbers. Values are not shown, leaders tend to be in its majority British. Felt discriminated not only by my gender but by my nationality. Used to love the company, few great leaders left in the organisation. It is in need of a positive shake up not just cost reduction.

As an ex employee of HSBC and a recent contractor I would say HSBC offer exellent profession progression for women. The new agile Technology function realises there needs to be more women technologist at all levels of the organisation steering the strategic direction. The CEO And CIO are supporting this all the way down the line especially with a global outlook. My experience working for HSBC has been positive although there are Senior Contract Managers/ Directors that come in on a short term lease who do not share the company values and may behave in a way that is not consistent with the brand values. I can see from a previous review that someone has had a bad experience in relation to this. HSBC are on journey to transform their IT function but need to ensure they do not kill off the internal brand values that glue the employees together by hiring narcissist leaders that do not care about the people or the brand… they are only thinking about their own needs and the next step up the ladder. Thus employees feel disconnected and not engaged… especially women. HSBC is an excellent organisation for women. I can speak from experience because I brought my children up working for them… and I am still connected in many ways. Unfortunately l, there are bad Managers with agendas in every company, they just have to make sure they flush them out. We certainly need more women in the IT Leadership space to balance the emotional intelligence?…and take Twana on a customer journey not a user journey !

I prefer not comment. I had the worst direct manager of my whole career. As per my team peers comments they had the same view.
