I have been at GitHub for a few months as an employee. The culture is friendly and my manager has been very supportive. Being mostly a dispersed company where people work remotely has its unique challenges, but it also allows for you to have better life/work balance since you do not need to spend time commuting. The company also has a good emphasis in Social Impact and this is a value that also trickles down to all employees. The company is also family friendly and my flex schedule allows me to still pick/up drop off my kids and attend the occasional school function, I have noticed that this is something done by both men and women and it is quite different from what I have seen at other companies, where family needs to remain “hidden” or one can face adverse consequences for having to fulfill family commitments. I would highly recommend this company to others.
