CompuCom was one of the best companies that I have worked for. The training was exceptional and it was one of the few jobs that I have had that I truly felt was rewarding. I had three of the biggest accounts in the company at different times and truly enjoyed each one of them. I felt that I was rewarded in my work and had a sense of satisfaction at the end of each day. I would work for them again.

Having worked for CompuCom for over ten years, this corporation does not treat it’s associates very well. I found several instances of non-equal pay. They like to use your knowledge capital, but if you ask for compensation or a raise they find every excuse to keep wages stagnant. They will bring in outside contractors and new associates and pay them exceedingly more than a seasoned associate performing the same work. Upper management receives bonuses and compensation on the backs of their technical workforce. 401K is a joke with all the excessive fees.
They use to have a top notch health care plan, but have cheapen it so much that it is not a perk any longer.
They don’t believe in true diversity, hardly any people of color or women in top executive positions.
But, if you want to learn about technology and obtain training, it can be a spring board to help you find better employment opportunities.

I worked for Compucom for almost a year in the Dallas office. I had come from another local reseller so I was familiar with the job and field. I believe the manager I had was let go a few years after my position had been “right-sized” and transferred to Mexico. The job itself was not challenging, I was on the inside sales team but the systems are DOS based and antiquated and everything took repeated steps to get processed. The pay structure was similar to other like positions and the insurance coverage was typical. My manager was the worst one I have ever had in my entire adult career. He would not go to bat for any of his reps and make promises to outside sales and upper management about performance and never share these with the team, so it was a constant state of disciplinary meetings and emails. The culture was heavily geared toward the employees that had been there for years and explicitly limited the interaction and advancement of new reps. Once the lay offs began on the software side everyone left started looking elsewhere. Only the very lazy and the favorites stayed on through the Software One acquisition, at least within the sales office. I was not sorry to leave nor surprised to learn that even the hardware side of the company could not stay afloat here in Texas and that the office closed.

I worked at the local branch of Compucom in Bellevue–Excell Data–at the time several years ago; although I really enjoyed it initially, it became apparent over time that there was favoritism and lots of politics behind the scene. My Manager at the time is no longer there, so I don’t think at this time I can paint a fair and accurate picture of what it’s like anymore.

Unless you were a favorite employee, advancement opportunities at that time were few and far between. Someone from the outside was introduced to our team as the new “Lead” even though the position was never posted internally for the rest of us to apply to.

A new employee in another state made an unfounded accusation about me, and the Manager blindly believed her, even though she had just begun and was trying to undermine my success. It was a terrible situation, and the fact that my Manager whom I worked hard for, trusted her word over mine, crushed me. I left the company as a result of this situation as I had put everything into it and felt betrayed.

Isabelle mcAndrews-Bruin was the Worst manager I ever had in my entire career. She stole my templates and called them her own and tried to undermine me at every turn and force me out of corporation by giving me lowly tasks that were things the maintenance staff should have been doing. I’m a designer not a picture hanger. Also after I left she had stolen my mission statement from LinkedIn and rewrote a few words to make it her own. Priceless! I wouldn’t work for them again if you doubled my salary..
