CDK Global

As I was a devops intern I don’t have much insight into the advancement opportunities. As with many places in devops I was the first/only woman on my team. Since CDK split off from ADP while I was there I feel like the culture may have shifted some since then. A new CDK office plan/remodel was unveiled and begun during my tenure to better support the agile workforce. Management definitely asked my input on how welcome I was at the company and how they could be more proactive in addition to the steps they were already taking to increase the number of women developers. No insight as to equal pay either as it didn’t come up during the internship.

In my experience, CDK is not a great place to work. I was moved to a new position (told not asked) that was way more responsibility and was not compensated accordingly. Nothing formal was changed in terms of signing and reviewing a new job description or accepting the new position. I was simply told I would move from my current role to a management role with no formal job offer, documentation or pay increase. I was told for 6+ months it was being reviewed and prepared by HR. After getting sick of getting the run-around I left the organization.

The work and culture at CDK is good. Work/life balance is good and the people are wonderful. There are some management issues, but nothing worse than anywhere else of a company this size. The salary and benefits are not competitive in the marketplace. I would recommend working here if you can accept the uncompetitive salary and benefits.

CDK Global is an OK place to work. It can do a much better job at equal pay. They are not on the cutting edge of not asking prior employers about salary, except in those states where it is illegal. Management doesn’t seem to want to buck that practice, either. The bottom line is more important than paying someone what the job is worth. They’ve conditioned managers to think in that manner as well.

Depending on the department, there’s not much room for career advancement, although there are promising initiatives to help this.
