Box is an awesome place to work! I’ve been fortunate enough to build my career here and have worked along side some of the smartest, most hardworking people in the valley. I feel challenged, supported, and productive every single day.

Box promotes a great company culture and is overall an amazing place to work.
One area for improvement would be leadership addressing problems that are trickling down to their people. Action should be taken to address those issues so that the positive culture is upheld and preserved.

Box is an incredible place to work, and I’m blessed to have spent over 5 years there in multiple roles. Executive leadership consistently made a point to ensure employees felt appreciated and directly tied to the success of the company. I had my first child while at Box, and they were flexible with the time I spent on maternity leave, and supplemented my pay to ensure I received 100% of salary.

Great culture. Brilliant, passionate colleagues. Super interesting work. Just recently graduated with my MBA, came from finance/startup background and recently switched into tech. Lots of interesting companies/opportunities to explore in the Valley, so I had pretty high expectations for what I wanted post-graduation – a place where I could do challenging, interesting work, make an impact, and learn from the best. Box has exceeded my expectations – the caliber of talent is impressive, and the opportunity for impact is significant.

I think Box is in a really interesting point in their lifecycle – though public, still tremendous potential for growth, still trying to “make it,” still pivoting and changing. So you still have that hungry, nimble, fast-moving startup where you can really do/try anything – opportunities are there if you want them. I could definitely see myself staying here for awhile, as the work is constantly changing/challenging, and there is a clear path for growth into leadership roles. Highly recommend working here.

Having spent 10 years previously in the government contracting defense industry of software development, I found Box to be an amazing breath of fresh air! The culture is very inclusive and supportive of everyone, from what I have seen. The engineering/tech ops departments were the most diverse workforces I have yet seen in my career. I’ll never forget that when I first joined Box a couple years ago, the head of engineering sought me out to have a 1-on-1 lunch meeting, and the first thing he asked me was “What’s your 3-to-5 year career plan, and how can I (personally) help you achieve your goals?” It caught me off-guard, but I understood that he really meant to help me however he could to accomplish what I wanted to do at Box!

My experiences with my direct manager and up the chain have all been positive and empowering. Box is all about supporting ownership and individuals taking on more responsibility when they want to. For instance, if I see a problem, instead of the response I had grown accustomed to: “Yeah, it’s a problem, but we can’t bill the client for that, so we’re not going to address it.”, I get the response at Box: “Good find! Want to drive the solution? What resources do you need?”

So, 2 years in, I’m not looking to leave Box anytime soon! Great culture, great folks, great communication, and great representation (as a woman of color, I’m happy to see more diversity in Box’s leadership roles). Also, great perks. Box culture also supports a healthy work-life balance!

Box is a very friendly, warm place to work. Unfortunately, much of the leadership team is out of touch with the rest of the company. Typically, politics drive promotions and not merit.

Box is really a fantastic place to work – the culture is amazing, open and honest, and the people I work with make coming to the office fun. As far as i know, the pay is equal between men and women, and there have been opportunities to advance and grow in my time here. That said, there are probably fewer such opportunties in the smaller orgs (i.e. Not sales or engineering), which I could see being a long term retention issue in smaller departments.

In terms of family benefits, I know a few people that have recently taken time off or considered taking time off for maternity leave. Through talking with them, it seems like Box’s benefits package really pales in comparison to paid parental leave benefits that are standard elsewhere in the valley. I’m not at a point in my life where this is a concern in the near term, but could definitely see factoring these discrepancies into my decision making process for future career moves. This parental leave discrepancy, combined with relatively low salaries in relation to other tech firms, and lack of a 401k match (the effect of which compounds over time if you’re taking that on early in your career)/attempt to substitute for one with ESPP based on a fairly flat Box stock makes it hard to envision a long term future here, as saving money becomes more and more important and cost of living continues to rise.

Box has a great culture and people build life long friendships there. Aaron is one of the most honest, hardworking, and intelligent leaders I have ever worked for. There are more female leaders at Box than at any other tech company I’ve ever worked for. They take diversity and equal pay very seriously. I loved the time I spent working there and would highly recommend it to anyone considering joining Box.

Box is a fun, energetic, exciting company. There is a feeling of being part of something larger than yourself or your role. In regards to women, the company is definitely pro-women and the workforce has a large female presence. Some areas do not have as many – such as Enterprise sales, but throughout the company, women are in leadership positions and largely equal in terms of number. I truly believe there is equal pay regardless of gender and a chance for great success for women here.

Box is the best company I’ve worked for in my decades of experience. Aaron is an honest, kind and extremely smart person. He’s also a feminist. That culture he created trickles down throughout the company. If you’re interested in a good career in tech, apply to Box. I’m not sure what the salary was for male colleagues but I believe any differences were not gender related and instead were timing for when someone joined ie earlier employees had more stock while later employees less but more salary. The typical deal with growing startups.
