I’ve been very impressed with Avanade’s commitment to creating a diverse and modern workplace. Our CEO was one of the first company’s to sign the White House equal pay promise. If you work in a tech role you get 80 hours of paid training each year to keep your certs up to date. Even for non-techies 55 hours of paid training is required. Depending on the role their can be significant amount of travel so I’d recommend having robust discussions during recruitment process to understand this.

Avanade says it’s pro-women but in my opinion as a former director it’s a score card metric the executives need to check. It’s all words, an after thought. You’ll find most women are hired within change enablement too and not well represented within other service lines. I’ve actually witnessed the Women’s Day scramble to prepare a lunch event whereby the budget was under some ridiculously low per person (all inclusive) budget – all an effort to check a box. Not impressed with the executives truly trying to make Avanade a profoundly pro-women workplace – the efforts were word only when I was working for Avanade.

It was a fast paced environment. The culture was loose, sometimes they made it too loose for even them. The work itself is exciting and fun. The people are energized to work massive hours.

Promotions were political and if you were liked not for your skills. I was called to testify against them for a sexual harassment case and she won. I also had to testify on hiring practices too.

The pay for me did not keep pace with my added responsibilities. I left as I was promised a double bump to make up for my efforts and only received a single bump. Hopefully, they have matured since I left.

Working with Avanade team is equally cool and interesting!

It’s the place where you meet different cultures, talking to different time-zones (good luck from someone who is based from Manila and working with projects in NA and Europe at the same time 🙂 with lots of brilliant ‘technical architects’ , project managers and BAs, and successfully deliver the project within the agreed scope, timeline and budget. Plus a happy a client after transition.

Happy to work with these guys again in the future!
